Between the 16th and 19th centuries, China established strong trade and cultural connections with various Asian and European countries, via the Maritime Silk Road. Macao held particular significance during this period as a vital transit hub linking China with Europe, and in particular with Portugal. This exhibition highlights Sino-Portuguese cultural exchanges from that era. It features approximately 1,770 items, sourced from the Palace Museum in Beijing, from several Portuguese cultural institutions – including the National Museum of Ancient Art, Museu do Oriente, and the Ajuda Library – and from entities under Macao’s Cultural Affairs Bureau.
