The former fishing community in Taipa revered the Taoist god of the north, Pak Tai, and dedicated a temple to the deity over a century ago, a structure that still stands. The day celebrated as Pak Tai's birthday is the third day of the third month of the Chinese lunar calendar, this year falling on Mar 31st. The festivities include Cantonese Opera performances in tribute to the deity. The Pak Tai Celebrations were inscribed in 2020, in Macao’s Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
