Many believe that making offerings and praying for good fortune are the best ways to welcome the Lunar New Year. During the festive period, temporary stalls are set up in Barra Square, selling incense joss sticks for the convenience of worshippers. Pinwheels, believed to dispel bad luck and attract good fortune for the new year, are also sold there.
