Xian Xinghai was a prominent modern Chinese musician, who was born in Macao on 13th June 1905 and died in Moscow on 30th October 1945. In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of his death, a series of activities will be held by the Xian Xinghai Memorial Museum from October to December this year, in an effort to increase public knowledge about his life, artistic achievements and patriotic thoughts.

Appreciation of the movie The Composer about Xian Xinghai
“The Composer” was the first movie ever co-produced by China and Kazakhstan. Since its premiere in 2019, it has received many awards at home and abroad during film festivals. It was adapted based on the last five years Xian Xinghai spent in Alma-Ata and the close friendship he established while in exile with the local composer Bakhytzhan Baikadamov. Though in hardship, Xian remained emotionally connected with his motherland, and composed excellent musical pieces to express his reminiscences of his country and hope for a victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
